Its been over a year of dealing with the shutdown, masks and mandates. The good news is that the Holy Name Society is back to meeting at St. Joseph's Hall each month - masks are optional. Meetings start at 6:30 with a light dinner and a Rosary at 7pm. General meeting starts at 7:30pm and normally ends by 8:30pm. We hope to see you there!
Board elections are held per our traditional time-frame. We will be taking nominations at our April, 2023 meeting, we will vote at the May meeting, and the new board takes over in June. If you are interested in running for the board, let someone on the current board know, or let Pablo know as the head of our nomination committee.
We are embarking on a very ambitious year of activity. We are going to have our Christmas Raffle and The Mother of All Raffles once again on December 19th. Our Special Needs Christmas Party will be smaller this year where we will be supporting our SMM kids only on December 10th.
As always, we highly encourage you to attend the meetings and join us on the second Sunday for Mass at 9:30 AM! Remember, a small amount of your time can make a difference.
Sacred Heart Retreat House Retreats:
During these COVID times, when our normal daily routines have completely changed, it might be good to take some opportunity to try other things. How about developing your spirituality. Here is an opportunity presented by Nancy Castigilone at our January zoom meeting.

Dear Friends,
I would like to share with you the virtual Retreat and Prayer opportunities available through the Carmelite Sisters from their Retreat House in Alhambra, CA.
The Sisters and their supporters have fine tuned producing "virtual" retreats in these pandemic times. They have some very good Retreat Masters with weekend presentations, prayer time, and Mass. Though they have a schedule for the weekend, if you register you can tune in to any segment at anytime for a month. They also offer past podcasts free, but it certainly would be nice to send them a "thank you offering".
These Carmelite Sisters of Los Angeles relied on overnight retreatants to keep their facilities afloat, offering their sacred grounds for our spiritual health. Because of pandemic closures they are seriously struggling to make ends meet, so they are "producing" retreats !
With our churches and ministries closed for 10+ months we can easily drift away from prayer life and spiritual nourishment. The donation is so minimal I ask that you try one, help yourself and help the Carmelite Sisters.
I attended 2 weeks ago, also the ZOOM sharing and it was very refreshing to bring them all into my space, in my PJs at times with a cup of tea!
Thanking you in advance!!
May God Bless & Reward You,
Nancy Castiglione

Mater Dolorosa Retreats
Here is a note from Mater Dolorosa, where the Holy Name has attended as a group each year since seemingly forever.
Even though we are closed at the present time because of the Covid-19 restrictions, this illness cannot keep the Passionists down!
I know many of you have experienced a retreat at Mater Dolorosa, and it is often a powerful memory. One we cannot offer you at the present time, but we can do something else. Imagine if you could:
Over the past several months, the Passionists of Mater Dolorosa and the Earth & Spirit Center have created a variety of online resources for you to experience from the comfort of your own home or other retreat location!
Dr. Michael J. Cunningham, O.F.S.,
Retreat Center Director
Walking with God During Difficult Times is a retreat designed specifically to respond to the current crisis. A spiritual response to help us understand our role in this once-in-a-lifetime journey, and how by walking with God, we can see He was there all along.

I know many of you have experienced a retreat at Mater Dolorosa, and it is often a powerful memory. One we cannot offer you at the present time, but we can do something else. Imagine if you could:
- Receive the spiritual nourishment we all crave at this pivotal time in our country’s history;
- See and hear your favorite devotions and prayers recited at Mater Dolorosa;
- Experience the smiling faces of the retreat ministry team right in your own home;
- Explore a new practice to grow in your spirituality and learn to be more present.
